Schedule: Monday-Sunday 12-21

Steampunk Transylvania is the first museum dedicated to steampunk aesthetics in Europe, which awaits the curious to discover the secrets of some worlds that until now could only be found in the books of Jules Verne.

Futuristic yet retro at the same time, Steampunk is a truly unique genre as it combines 19th century aesthetics and technology with elements of science fiction. The literary and audiovisual works based on this concept take place in an alternate reality where technological progress is based not on electricity, but on the steam engine.

The museum spans two floors, and once you step behind the curtain, you enter a completely different world than the usual one. Part of the decor is part of the permanent collection, but periodically, the museum administrators have proposed to present other exhibits as well.

The Rose Park

The Rose Park is located in the extension of the Iuliu Hațieganu University Sports Park, sports lovers have at their disposal fields for practicing ball sports: basketball, handball, football or volleyball. The young or the elderly interested in practicing physical exercises in the open air have fitness equipment at their disposal, and roller sports and bicycle enthusiasts can use the tracks and paths arranged. At the same time, the park offers the opportunity to play chess in the open air, on an oversized board with pieces of about 80 cm, or hopscotch, on a construction specially designed for this purpose. In addition to all these facilities, a special attention was paid to the general appearance of the park by placing an artesian fountain, as well as an urban furniture and the expansion of the lighting network.

Also, a space of approximately one thousand square meters transformed into a skatepark was inaugurated in the Rose Park. The space is intended for roller skaters and motocross bikes, BMX, allowing the organization of large-scale competitions. Recently, the area has become even more attractive following the terracing of certain portions of the banks of Someșul Mic. Thus, a promenade embankment was created between the Garibaldi Bridge and the Rose Park, as well as a track for cyclists.

The Firemen’s Tower

The Firemen’s Tower, originally called the Locksmiths’ Tower or “Little Gate from Soap Street”, was finished during the time of Ştefan Bathory, when a tower was built on this bastion, completed in 1574. The height of 28.5 m gave it good visibility, fulfilling an essential condition – the possibility of effective surveillance of the surrounding area for the observation and signaling of fires. Rehabilitated through a project financed by European funds, the Firemen’s Tower offers a special, 360-degree panorama of the city, the entrance to the objective being free for tourists.

Currently, it is set up as an urban culture center, presenting various exhibitions, objects and old photographs, specific to the activity of firefighting.

Izvoru Crisului Reformed-Calvinist Church

The Reformed – Calvinist Church from Izvoru Crișului, located in an area full of history of Cluj County, was documented in the 14th century. It is part of an impressive group of churches in the Land of Calata, an area that represents the cradle of centuries-old folk traditions.

The church is built of stone and is surrounded by a wall dating from the 14th century. Here we find important elements of architecture, which by their beauty keep alive the history of these places. The bell tower, the polychrome painted coffered ceiling, the pipe organ, the fabrics with specific motifs, all illustrate the traditions and customs of the community.

In the patrimony of the church there is a Turkish carpet of inestimable value, donated to the church in 1754 by a local. This rug was given to him by Prince György Rakóczi II as a token of gratitude  after a battle, for his help in treating the prince’s wounds.
