Az eredetileg Takácsok tornyának vagy Szappany utcai kis kapu elnevezésű Tűzoltótorony Báthory István idejében készült el, amikor erre a bástyára 1574-ben tornyot építettek. A 28,5 méteres magasság jó láthatóságot biztosított neki, ily módon hatékonyan megfigyelhették a környező területet a tűzesetek elterjedésének megelőzése végett. Az európai forrásokból felújított Tűzoltótorony különleges, 360 fokos városi panorámát kínál, a látványosság ingyenesen megtekinthető. 

Jelenleg városi kulturális központként működik, ahol különféle kiállításokat, tárgyakat és régi fényképeket mutatnak be, amelyek a tűzoltási tevékenységgel kapcsolatosak. 

Izvoru Crisului Reformed-Calvinist Church

The Reformed-Calvinist Church from Izvoru Crișului, located in an area full of history of Cluj County, was documented in the 14th century. It is part of an impressive group of churches in the Land of Calata, an area that represents the cradle of centuries-old folk traditions.

The church is built of stone and is surrounded by a wall dating from the 14th century. Here we find important elements of architecture, which by their beauty keep alive the history of these places. The bell tower, the polychrome painted coffered ceiling, the pipe organ, the fabrics with specific motifs, all illustrate the traditions and customs of the community.

In the patrimony of the church there is a Turkish carpet of inestimable value, donated to the church in 1754 by a local. This rug was given to him by Prince György Rakóczi II as a token of gratitude  after a battle, for his help in treating the prince’s wounds.

The story of this museum begins with the passion of a student from Cluj, who out of love for the traditions and the Romanian clothing managed to fulfill his dream of keeping alive the memory of his grandparents, by keeping the old objects inherited from them.

The „Grandma’s House” museum was initially opened in the student’s grandmother’s house, but, being in an area difficult to access for visitors and with the support of the authorities, the objects were moved to a space in the center of Răcătău village, Măguri Răcătău commune. Those who arrive here can admire authentic objects, collected with a lot of effort and involvement: plates, towels, kerchiefs, national costumes, bags, traditional objects used for weaving, decorative pillows with traditional motifs and many other objects that illustrate the old days.

Arkhai Sculpture Park was built by sculptor Ernő Bartha, a nationally and internationally recognized artist. Its construction began in 2008 and has been in continuous development ever since. The park is unique due to the monumental size hay sculptures it hosts. The works and the remodeling of the land were made in 3 years, with stones brought from Leghia and Vişta and rocks from Valea Ierii.

The first construction was the stone fence which does not divide, but defines, showing that here begins another world, different from the life we live in.

The Bacchus Sanctuary (50 m²) is located on the right side of the park, on the facade is a sculpture, carved in 2012, after a relic of Bacchus from the Roman Age, found in Dobrogea. The central figure is Bacchus, then, in the upper right side is the Thracian Horseman, and in the lower part is the Fruit Pan. On the left are the nymphs, dancing. In front of the cellar is the summer pavilion (60 m²) and a traditional beehive oven.

Also, we can find a 100-year-old oak house, brought from Maramureș, which has a traditional beehive oven inside.

The park officially opened its doors in 2014, and has hosted ever since numerous events, such as: concerts, outdoor movie screenings, creative camps and workshops, programs for children and youth (horseback riding, textile workshops, ceramics, theater, etc.).

Visiting this open-air museum is possible only by making an appointment in advance.

The Museum of Science and Optical Illusions is the latest project of the Pluto Astronomical Association, following the same educational line that can be found at the Mobile Planetarium or the Museum of Mobile Illusions.

Being a permanent location with a generous space of 700sqm, the volunteers of the Pluto Astronomical Association managed to build the only maze of mirrors in Transylvania, the longest Vortex tunnel, a huge Ames room, an UpSideDown room, teaching holograms, a virtual sand box and many other exhibits that combine science and optical illusions. The guides are supported by the well-known „astronomical storytellers” from the Mobile Planetarium, Dan Coltea and Adi Filpisan shows.

At the same time, there are live experiments that complete the school curriculum, being a real support for students, teachers and parents.

The location of the museum is an unconventional one, the former Turda Brewery, currently a historical monument. In the arrangement of the museum, an attempt was made to preserve and enhance the building, the resulting space being one in which the brick together with wood and metal helps build an authentic industrial atmosphere, but at the same time full of warmth and hospitality.

The idea of creating this concept started in 1994, with the launch of a project competition for Contemporary Art. The ensemble “Signs to the sky for rain and rainbow” today, was created over the years, starting from the arrangement of the space destined for the monumental complex, to the placement of the component “signs” in their final form.

Located on a hill in the native village of the author Alexandru Chira, the monumental ensemble originally entitled „Installation for remembrance, for suggesting rain and rainbow”, delights our eyes with 18 subassemblies. If we made you curious, do not hesitate to visit the open-air museum, where you can admire all the exhibits that are part of this project. It is located in the village of Tăușeni, Bonțida commune, about 40 km from Cluj – Napoca. The entrance is free, and when climbing, visitors will be greeted by an exhortation from the author: “Remember, climbing this hill bring with you a cup or a cup of spring water, empty it into the Fountain of the Mirror. The water of the spring will meet the water of heaven and together – the depths of the earth and the sky – will give birth to the ladder of the rainbow, of the last ascension ”…;
