Gilău Lake is an accumulation lake located upstream of the confluence of Someşul Cald and Someşul Rece, formed after the construction of the hydroelectric dam in 1972. It is one of the main recreational lakes of Cluj, having an area of approximately 70 ha.
Downstream of the dam works one of the most important trout farms in the country, which has a double role: the trout production for consumption and trout brood for the population of mountain waters. Gilău lake is one of the most wanted destinations for sport fishing, one of its shores hosting a complex leisure base.
