On the administrative area of Ţaga commune were formed accumulations that had the role of protecting against floods, becoming over time fishing facilities. The same as the Sucutard lakes, Sântejude and Geaca, Ţaga Mare lake is in fact an accumulation resulted from organizing the Fizeş Valley, currently with potential for fish farming exploitation.
The first anthropic intervention was the construction of a dam through which the lakes Ţaga Mare was separated from Ţaga Mică, which led to a fishing exploitation area of Ţaga Mare lake of approximately 100 ha. The organized surfaces in the Fizeş Valley represent almost one third of the total surfaces made for fishing purposes in Câmpia Transilvaniei, gaining second place as a surface after the Pârâul de Câmpie basin.
